Parking MarcoPolo to and from Treviso Airport
MarcoPolo Car Park offers a free shuttle service to and from Treviso Sant’Angelo Antonio Canova airport, that is only 3 km from the town centre. We at MarcoPolo Car Park have created a new hybrid shuttle service for passengers whose departure and arrival points do not coincide (if you leave from Venice Marco Polo and return to Treviso airport or vice versa). If you wish to pick up/drop off a car at Canova airport, we offer you an exclusive car moving service that is even swifter. If you are leaving from and returning to Treviso and want to entrust your car to our service, we will still guarantee you a shuttle service to and from Treviso Canova airport (obviously 24/7).
Originally the headquarters of the Treviso Aero Club, an amateur flying club, it acquired civil airport status in the mid-Thirties but it was not until 1953 that the first airport facilities were built under the initiative of various local bodies. In May that year, the first international flight took off from the airport, followed by other flights heading to London and Vienna. Until Tessera airport was opened in 1960, Sant’Angelo was also Venice’s official airport. From 1960 onwards it was exclusively used for charter and cargo flights. The watershed took place in 1996, when the Sant’Angelo airport became part of the Venice Airport System; from that year onwards, Treviso airport has been used for charter flights, low-cost airlines and freight companies. 2007 was an important year for Treviso airport: February was marked by the inauguration of the new expanded passenger terminal named after the famous local sculptor, Antonio Canova. Today Treviso airport handles over 2 million passengers a year.
